Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) – 

Hours: 7am-7pm

Qualifications

  • KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS AND CAPACITIES: A thorough knowledge of current and approved nursing practices and methods; a commitment to maintain competency within the field of nursing through regular participation in continuing nursing education programs, workshops, seminars and conferences; and related capacities and abilities
  • EDUCATION: Such as may have been gained through training and/or experience
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must meet nursing assistants registration requirements as required by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Liberia and must maintain such requirements as a condition of employment
  • At the time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician’s certificate
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS Certificate required. Will train
  • Pre-Employment Requirements for all candidates to receive a position is the proof of immunity against:
  • Measles, Mumps and Rubella (MMR)

Responsibilities

  • GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: To provide professional nursing assistant care to patients/clients; to develop and provide direct nursing care and treatment by assessing the patients’/clients’ needs, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care; and to do related work as required
  • According to the model of service delivery, general duty assignments are received by a nursing superior/nurse; nursing supervision is provided by individuals of a higher classification within the same discipline; work is subject to review and evaluation for compliance with instructions, professional nursing standards and procedures
  • To provide professional nursing assistance within an in-patient, outpatient facility or community service facility
  • To participate in the intake process by interviewing, assessing, working with a nurse in diagnosis and goal setting for patients/clients
  • To interpret nursing and health care needs to other members of the interdisciplinary team under guidance of a nurse, physician assistant or doctor
  • To act as an integral member of an interdisciplinary team
  • To provide medical and nursing therapies, health care instructions and counseling to clients and families under nursing guaidance
  • To document interactions with clients according to agency policy
  • To apply the nursing process including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation, in the care of clients under supervision
  • To communicate health, medical and nursing information to other members of the interdisciplinary team
  • To provide instructions to patients/clients and staff on an on-going basis under supervision
  • To monitor health status of patients/clients
  • To do related work as required
  • Must be computer literate or willing to learn
  • Must be a team player

  • EDUCATION: Such as may have been gained through graduation from accredited school of nursing/midwifery
  • SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must meet midwifery registration requirements as required by the World Health Organization (WHO) and Liberia and must maintain such requirements as a condition of employment. Current Liberian Midwifery license required
  • At the time of appointment must be physically qualified to perform assigned duties as evidenced by a physician’s certificate
  • ACLS, BLS, PALS, neonatal resuscitation program (NRP) Certificate required. Will train
  • Pre-Employment Requirements for all candidates to receive a position is the proof of immunity against:

Responsibilities

  • Provides referrals to other health professionals/community agencies, as needed
  • Initiates selected therapeutic and diagnostic procedures (including non stress testing and biophysical profiles), consultation and laboratory examinations, as needed
  • Provides maximum continuity of care for patients and families transitioning throughout the phases of antepartal/ labor/ delivery/ postpartal/ family planning-intercontraceptional care periods
  • Responsible for the management of the medically uncomplicated and low-risk patient throughout the maternity cycle
  • Follows progress of pregnancy in the office and labor of all patients in labor and delivery suite within the scope of midwifery practice
  • May assume management of labor and delivery of the medically, uncomplicated low risk patient, including management of frequently encountered problems with medically approved orders mutually agreed upon by both physician and midwife
  • Makes daily rounds on routine postpartum floors independently
  • Examines patients
  • Writes progress notes
  • Informs attending and nursing staff of any problems including, but not limited to fever, hemorrhage, UTI, mastitis, maternal/infant problems
